Legal Services Alabama (LSA)
Mission
Legal Services Alabama was formed in 2004 through the merger of three longstanding legal aid organizations to strengthen and expand access to civil legal assistance across the state. The organization’s mission is centered on ensuring equal access to justice for low-income Alabamians by providing free civil legal services in all 67 counties. As the only nonprofit law firm in Alabama dedicated exclusively to delivering free civil legal aid statewide, it plays a critical role in supporting underserved communities. Funded by the Legal Services Corporation, the organization aims to provide effective, efficient, and accessible legal representation to those who otherwise could not afford it.

Web Presence
The top bar's dual-action design with "DOTE" in gold and "APPLY" in blue is an excellent UX decision — it instantly clarifies the site's two audiences (supporters and people seeking help) before anyone reads a word, and the warm gold and navy color palette throughout feels appropriately authoritative without being cold or intimidating for people in vulnerable situations. The hero photo of the smiling elderly woman is a humanizing, dignified choice that puts a real face on who the organization serves, the tabbed service area selector (Domestic Violence, Public Benefits, Housing Issues, etc.) is a smart way to organize complex legal categories without overwhelming first-time visitors, and the golden "Services We Provide" band near the footer gives the page a warm, approachable landing point that reinforces the mission clearly. On the improvement side, the mission statement section below the hero is where the page loses momentum — the text becomes dense and bureaucratic almost immediately, with a long paragraph about LSC funding restrictions that is important legally but should be collapsed into fine print rather than placed in prime homepage real estate where someone in crisis is trying to quickly understand if they qualify for help.
